Why should I give money to church?

Recently we've been talking about the difficulties our parish faces in order to keep our churches open. Many of you have approached us to talk about this, so we would like to tell you what impact your giving actually has.

Any money we receive is spent on providing the following:

  • Clergy available 24 hours a day, 7 days a weekbusiness-money-pink-coins
  • One part time vicar
  • Sunday services (morning, evening, youth)
  • Costs of maintaining our church buildings
  • Insurance and utilities
  • One full time and two part time administrators
  • 1630 copies of Parish News printed and delivered
  • Festival services at Christmas and Easter
  • 22 baptisms in 2016
  • 54 Weddings arranged in 2016
  • 1 renewal of wedding vows arranged in 2016
  • 25 Funerals arranged in 2016
  • Three open churchyards for the burial of loved ones
  • Five gardens of remembrance
  • Hospital visiting for the sick and dying
  • Home visits for anyone
  • Home communion for anyone unable to attend church
  • Communion and visiting for those in care homes
  • Pastoral care for our three CofE primary schools

*Communion in schools

*Assemblies in schools

*Governorships in schools

  • Links to the wider church within local area and nationally
  • Social events to get to know more people in your community

now we’ve got a full time vicar to make this list even longer!
